On September 6, 2018, the Business Honors students attended an all-cohort meeting to review program updates and upcoming events.

This semester’s Business Honors all-cohort meeting started with presentations by Dean Robert Camp and Assistant Dean, Center for Leadership and Student Success, Kara Romance. They reminded students to stay engaged and make the most of the opportunities that they will be presented as members of the Business Honors program. Professor Joseph Rosendale then introduced this year’s Common Reader: “Big Potential: How Transforming the Pursuit of Success Raises Our Achievement, Happiness, and Well-Being” by Shawn Achor.

Selected members from each cohort then shared their experiences from recent business honors trips: Pittsburgh, Washington D.C., New York City, and India. Not only did participating in these trips provide students with an alternative perspective, but it also allowed them to build connections with business professionals.

To conclude the evening, the freshman cohort elected their cohort leaders to be Shelby Lowery and Rebecca Shellenbarger. The freshman cohort also participated in a team building activity, which consisted of constructing the tallest standing tower using only newspaper and duct tape. The results were close, but in the end, the group of Jack Steve, Sean Martin, Nick Pammer, and Mike Mehalic won the challenge.
