On October 11, 2017, the IUP American Marketing Association welcomed Lisa Boyer, sales operations analyst at WIDIA Products Group, to come speak to the AMA about her experiences through college and her career.
Lisa has bachelor’s degrees in psychology and marketing. She also graduated IUP in 2016 with her MBA. She started her career in psychology, but moved towards both consumer and B2B marketing later in her career. Through her job at WIDIA Products Group,
Lisa has become fluent in strategy, marketing, and customer service.
AMA really enjoyed listening to Lisa as she shared her experiences and tips that are really great for college students who are actively looking to become a more involved student. Lisa highly encouraged our members to become a volunteer at
a nonprofit organization or any organization that allows volunteers, such as Four Footed Friends. Lisa regularly helps out at Four Footed Friends, and the organization would not be the same without her help.
Lisa reminded the students that nobody is going to do the work for us, and that it is up to us to be the best version of ourselves that we can be, saying, “You have to stand up for yourself because no one else will. You have to be your own champion.”
Alex Lazarchik, a sophomore marketing major said, “I thought Lisa was very insightful and gave a great presentation. Her experiences are relatable, and she was personable to talk to afterwards!”
