Chad Buckwalter, International Student and Scholar advisor, was selected to present at the Mid-Atlantic Region Association for Asian Studies Conference 2017 held at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

His study, “Path to U.S. Higher Education: A Study of Chinese Students at Indiana University of Pennsylvania,” collected data on the varied ethnic backgrounds of the Chinese student population at IUP and sought to determine if ethnicity was a factor in the students’ educational opportunities and decisions. Buckwalter presented his research on a panel discussing “Mobility and Networks in Chinese Education.”

Founded in 1971, the Mid-Atlantic Region Association for Asian Studies is a nonpolitical, nonprofit scholarly organization dedicated to bringing Asia and America together. MARAAS has offered conferences, publications, and outreach activities to an increasingly large public in the mid-Atlantic region. It facilitates contact among educators and professionals in such fields as business, law, government, and mass media.
