As part of the OHRLD Assessment Committee, Sondra Dennison, Valerie
Baroni, Dave Berberich, Jenny Faught, and Don Spade received the DeCoster Award
for developing and piloting the HRL (Housing and Residential Living) Survey
and distributing the instrument to all residents on the Indiana and
Punxsutawney campuses in spring 2017.
survey is designed to measure multiple aspects of a student’s residential
experience, using outcomes framed around OHRLD’s three broad goals of (a) community,
(b) learning and development, and (c) facilities and services. Results from the survey were analyzed by
OHRLD’s assessment team, and were used to guide the development of OHRLD’s
2017–18 priorities and strategies for the continuous improvement of its
programs and services.
The annual award was presented during the Division of Student
Affairs Opening Workshop on Friday, September 15. The workshop, titled “Transformations: Past,
Present, and Future,” featured Patti McCarthy, vice president for Enrollment
Management, as guest speaker and included remarks by President Michael Driscoll.
