Theater major Miranda Secula is having an especially rewarding summer. She founded Small Town Stars Theatre Company and is directing a production of the dark and angst-ridden Heathers: The Musical at the Carroll Arts Center in Westminster, Maryland.

“This story is mainly important because of the bullying aspect,” Secula said. “It’s about how do you deal with bullies, and in this particular show they go to the extreme. What I love about it, though, is it’s about how to make peace with your current situation. So many other stories are about trying to change your situation, which isn’t always possible.”

Secula is a member of the Cook Honors College and is pursuing a concentration in Theater Performance in her major. Last fall she was the assistant director of Die Fledermaus under the direction of Oliver Lo.
