2017 Undergraduate Scholars CohortOn Tuesday, April 4, the sophomore Business Honors cohort participated in the Business Case competition at the twelfth annual Undergraduate Scholars Forum.

Each of the seven groups from the sophomore Business Honors cohort were given the task of conducting a case analysis on one of two struggling companies, more specifically Chipotle Mexican Grill and Panera Bread. In order to do so, the groups were asked to complete a thorough, up-to-date analysis of their particular company and the company’s industry.

In completing this analysis, the groups were then required to define any underlying problems that were causing the company’s decline, consider the potential options for resolving the problem, and finally offer recommendations to improve future business operations.

The following day the Undergraduate Scholars Forum held a pre-awards lunch and awards ceremony to announce award winners from each of the academic colleges. Awards were presented to participants primarily in regard to best performance, best poster, and best presentation. The award winners from the Business Case competition were Elam Gates, Maria Hoge, Alec Martin, Anthony Maticic and Seth Peterman.
