Please join us for a public reading of Oh, My Sweet Land by Amir Nizar Zuabi with discussion and interactive storytelling for World Theatre Day on Monday, March 27, at 12:15 p.m. in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Atrium.

IUP Theater and Dance’s SPATE ensemble (Simulated Patient/Applied Theatre Ensemble), led by professor Rachel DeSoto-Jackson, has partnered with the national Taking Refuge project.

Taking Refuge is an examination of the current refugee crises around the world by artists, activists, journalists, academics, and individuals directly effected by war and political violence. Together, we are working to fight xenophobia and misinformation regarding refugees and people seeking asylum in the US. Our national events with partner universities include film screenings, play readings, teacher trainings, panel presentations, talkbacks, and public discussions, designed to humanize individuals who have been displaced, and to increase knowledge in our communities.

We hope you will join us on Monday, March 27, at 12:15 p.m.
