The Chinese
Spring Festival is well known as the most important festival in China. It also
represents the beginning of the Chinese New Year. Chinese New Year, known as
the “Spring Festival” in modern mainland China, is an important Chinese
festival celebrated at the turn of the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar.
On February
27, 2017, Eberly College of Business Chinese Business Program students and the IUP
community gathered to celebrate this traditional Chinese festival. Approximately
130 people attended the event.
Organized
by the IUP Chinese Student Association and sponsored by the Eberly College of
Chinese Business Program, the event began with welcome speeches from Dean Robert Camp
of the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology, Eric Du from the Chinese Business Program,
and Xinhui Xie from the Chinese Student Association. Dean Camp also awarded the
Chinese Business Program students who had an outstanding 4.0 GPA in fall 2016
with academic scholarship certificates.
During
the event, talented Chinese Business Program students provided entertainment,
including singing, dancing, and instrumentals. The audience also participated
in fun games and group activities. This event provided a great opportunity for
our Chinese students to share authentic Chinese culture with the IUP family.
It
was such a wonderful night and event for celebrating the Year of the Rooster at
IUP.
