IUP and NYU Film School product Natalia Kaniasty returns to IUP to show her film Home Range and talk about filmmaking, getting into film production schools, getting a professional career started, and the issues in her film. Kaniasty made Home Range as a project for her NYU degree.

Made in Indiana, the film is about the struggles of a returning veteran. Natalia wrote and directed and cast fellow IUP grad Brett Mack in the lead role. Briefly associated with Warner Brothers, she was mentored by Todd Solondz, director of Wiener-Dog, Happiness, and Welcome to the Dollhouse, and studied with Darren Aronofsky, director of Requiem for a Dream, Pi, and Black Swan.

Kiniasty will share valuable tips for developing skills and moving on with a career in filmmaking. She will also share thoughts about veterans’ needs and how she worked those concerns into her film.

The screening will be for free in the Humanities and Social Sciences building, room 225, at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 1. Attendance vouchers will be available.
