Beatrice Fennimore, Department of
Professional Studies in Education, will present “Helping Teachers to Connect the Dots Between Ethics, Advocacy,
Diversity, and Social Justice: Moving from Abstract Ideas to Enacted
Intentions and Powerful Practices in the Early Childhood Classroom” at the National Association for the Education of Young Children Professional
Development Institute on June 8, 2014.
This presentation is based on her recent book, published by Teachers
College Press, titled Standing Up for Something Every Day: Ethics and
Justice in Early Childhood Classrooms.
The institute takes place in Minneapolis, Minn., along with the concurrent meeting of the National
Association of Early Childhood Teacher Educators. Fennimore will present at this meeting on June 9, focusing on linking concepts of social
justice to the National Association for the Education of Young Children Code of Ethics and Statement of Commitment.
She is
also an invited author at the Minnesota Association for the Education of
Young Children “Authors Dinner,” to take place during the concurrent
meetings. Attendees at the dinner purchase tickets to have dinner at the
table of the author of their choice and to receive a copy of that
author’s recent book.
