In episode two of “In Class at IUP,” Journalism professor Erick Lauber is teaching IUP Journalism students essential skills they’ll need in the real world.
Lauber’s JRNL 215 Media Convergence class was filmed by a three-person film crew from IUP Video Services. The lesson captured showed students how to edit video for both news packages and the Internet.
Project producer Emily Smith said she was excited to work with Lauber for this episode because “it is a practical class that uses current technology that students will use in the field right away.”
The class begins with a discussion on how to gather the essential elements of a video news package. Then, Lauber shows the class how to edit different file formats and manipulate video clips. Watch the full class episode on YouTube.
After class, four students were interviewed and shared their thoughts on the class.
