“IMAGO,” an exhibition of paintings curated by graduate
student Erika Stearly, is on display in the Annex Gallery, Sprowls Hall,
October 1–31, 2013.
The exhibition includes several works from the permanent
collection of the University Museum by artists Milton Avery, Philip Guston,
Chuck Olson, Ned Wert, May White-Dyer, and Ruby C. Williams.
Works from the museum collection are supplemented by
paintings by Mark Mahosky, James Maria, Margaret Noel, Hilary Pharr, Matthew
Sepielli, Kate Stewart, and Ezra Tessler.
A reception for the exhibition, hosted in Sprowls by
the Graduate Art Association at IUP, is scheduled for 6:00–8:00 p.m. on
Wednesday, October 16.
At 5:00 p.m., Dee Briggs, an artist based in New York and
Pittsburgh, will lecture in McVitty Auditorium. Briggs completed undergraduate
studies in architecture at City College of New York and received a Master of
Architecture degree from Yale University in 2002. She exhibits nationally and teaches
in the schools of art and architecture at Carnegie Mellon University.
Admission to the reception, talk, and exhibit is free.
