The Mid-Atlantic Addiction Research and Training Institute (MARTI) welcomes journalism professor Erick Lauber as research associate.
Lauber will add his expertise in training, leadership, and human behavior research to the work of the institute, which combines academic resources with treatment expertise to provide state-of-the-art training on addiction treatment for substance abuse counselors and mental health professionals as well as graduate students entering the field.
Lauber is an applied psychologist who has presented frequently at conferences and published widely in psychology journals and book series, including the prestigious "Attention and Performance" series.
He changed his career focus to journalism and mass media after producing several educational television shows at his previous institution, the University of Georgia. He has since started three digital media companies, consults regularly, and runs the Digital Media Institute at IUP. His productions have won over two dozen national awards, including a Broadcast Educators Award, several Telly Awards, and four Videographer Awards.
