Andrew Gruse, a December 2011 graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Social Studies Education, won a Nano iPod Mini after completing the graduate survey conducted each year by the Career Development Center.
The purpose of the graduate survey is to provide information regarding the outcome of IUP graduates, including address updates, current employment status, gross salary for entry-level positions, and current educational status. Participants can complete the brief survey by responding to an e-mail distributed to new graduates or via a follow-up phone survey.
Gruse, who is employed as an income maintenance caseworker for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, was surprised to hear that he won, but very grateful for the education he received at IUP.
“The instructors and professors I learned from took a holistic approach to the subject,” Gruse says, “and taught in a manner that made me understand the lesson, not just simply memorize a topic. The education I received at IUP allows me to better serve my clients and their needs.”
