An International Business major and student in the Cook Honors College at Indiana University of Pennsylvania has received the Marla Sabo Scholarship for Studies Abroad.
Alex Fidler, from Fleetwood, Pa., is currently studying at the University of Applied Sciences in Nuremburg, Germany. It is her second international experience. She spent summer, 2010, in Bayrischzell, Germany.
Marla Sabo, a 1979 graduate of IUP, established the scholarship so that students at her alma mater could experience the same benefits of international travel that she did as a student. Currently a partner at Fireman Capital Partners in New York, Sabo worked in the European fashion industry for several decades with Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Hermes. She is the former president and chief operating officer of Christian Dior.
Fidler received the award through the International Education Office, which oversees more than 48 direct exchange opportunities around the globe for IUP students.
More information about Fidler and Sabo appears in Support IUP.
