The Fall semester launch of the new Homeschool Physical Education Program (HPEP) on campus was a huge success, providing over 100 K–12 homeschooling students in the Indiana area with high-quality physical education lessons taught by preservice Health and Physical Education majors.
The HPEP also offered water safety instruction for all of the students. Parents were offered fitness testing and consultation as well as the services of a child care center for prekindergarten children, so they could fully use the facilities.
Professor David Wachob, program director, next plans to incorporate health components, such as nutrition, into the HPEP, to provide students with a more holistic educational experience focused on healthy lifestyles.
