For the seventh consecutive year, IUP Libraries will be partnering with the Indiana Corps of the Salvation Army to provide local, disadvantaged youth with the gift of literacy through the Salvation Army’s Treasures for Children program.

Formerly known as the Angel Tree Program, the Treasures for Children program provides Christmas gifts for more than 65,000 children in Western Pennsylvania. Needy families apply for gift assistance at their local Salvation Army Worship and Service Center.

If you are interested in purchasing a new book for a needy child, please contact Kelly Heider, education librarian, via e-mail at She will provide you with the sex and age of a local child and take care of delivering your “treasure” to the Salvation Army before Christmas.

IUP Libraries thanks you, in advance, for your support and wishes you and yours a wonderful holiday season!
