Linda Hall, chairperson and graduate coordinator of the Department of Student Affairs in Higher Education (SAHE), announced that she will retire in August 2012 after 30 years at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Her career at IUP began in 1982 as director of Housing and Residence Life. In 1986, she was promoted to assistant vice president for Student Affairs, followed by her appointment as director of IUP’s Center for Business Services and Card Administration in 1994. In 1997, she joined the SAHE faculty as an associate professor and was elected to chairperson in 2008.

In her recent announcement to students, alumni, and colleagues, she wrote, “It has been a wonderful career, both here and at other places. Over these past few weeks, I’ve played through many memories of the past several years. I am thankful that I’ve had the opportunity to work with folks who truly care about college students and their learning and development.”

John Wesley Lowery has been elected chairperson of the department by the SAHE faculty. He will assume the role of chairperson in August. Lowery joined the SAHE faculty in 2008 after working at Oklahoma State University and at the University of South Carolina, where he coordinated their respective student affairs graduate preparation programs.

The university is hiring a temporary SAHE faculty member for the upcoming academic year.
