John Wesley Lowery, associate professor in Student Affairs in Higher Education, presented at the Jeanne Clery Act Training Seminar at Penn State on June 20–21, 2012.

The Clery Act Training Seminar is sponsored by Clery Center for Security on Campus (CCSOC).

Lowery was part of a multi-disciplinary team that presented a two day program on the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. The seminar faculty also included Alison Kiss, SOC executive director; Roxanne Hodgins, University of Texas Police Department; and Kiersten Feeney White, St. Joseph’s University. Lowery was also one of the subject matter experts who worked with Security on Campus to develop the original curriculum for the Jeanne Clery Act Training Seminar as well as several of revisions to the curriculum.

Regarding the training, Steve Shelow, assistant vice president for Police and Public Safety at the university, said, “More than ever, Penn State is committed to complying with the provisions of the Clery Act. This partnership with the Clery Center represents an even stronger commitment. We are among the first universities to collaborate with CCSOC in this fashion, and we are eager to show other colleges and universities the benefits of such a partnership.”
