In conjunction with the Office of Service Learning, the Project Cares Program of the IUP African American Cultural Center (AACC) will assist the Chevy Chase Community Center with implementing its annual Summer Food Lunch Program.

This program is designed for children eighteen and under, or those of any age who possess a special and documented physical or mental challenge.

Lunch will be provided free of charge at six Indiana County sites from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on June 13 to August 13, 2011.

Several IUP students and volunteers have registered for Project Cares and will serve as drivers, monitors, cooks, kitchen/clean-up help, after-lunch activity proviiders, etc.

The AACC Project Cares program is designed to encourage participation in community service activities by minority and underrepresented students while also assisting agencies with fulfilling a needed service component of their agency.

Volunteers are still needed for an After Lunch Program under consideration.
