The 2011 University Family Campaign celebrates success with a 60 percent increase over last year's participation rate.

According to Emily Smeltz, director of Annual Giving, the breakdown of increases by division for full-time employees who participated is as follows:

  • University Relations: 89 percent
  • President’s Office: 45 percent
  • Administration and Finance: 78 percent
  • Academic Affairs: 48 percent
  • Student Affairs: 185 percent

Eleven departments reached a 100 percent rate of participation, and thirteen more reached 50 percent or higher. Departments with 100 participation receive a certificate from the Annual Giving Office to display in their offices.

"First and foremost, IUP students are winners in regards to this program, as many programs and scholarships will benefit from campaign contributions," Smeltz said.

Winners of the prize drawings for participants are as follows:

  • Dell Inspiron Duo Convertible Tablet: Marlene McCabe
  • James G. Mill Center for Fitness Complimentary Three-Month Membership: Robert Kostelnik
  • Benjamin’s gift Certificate: William Srsic
  • Co-op Store Gift Card: Sarah Neusius
  • Sheetz Gift Card: Donna Wolfe
  • Two Complimentary Oak Room Lunches: Lynne Alvine, Frank Brooks, Joanne Kuta, Karen L. Brown, Jaeju Ko.

Smeltz said the Annual Giving Office is grateful for the support of those who made the campaign possible, from those who agreed to be featured in the promotional videos to those who participated in the campaign kick-off event. She also acknowledged those who donated prizes and other goods: Dell, Starbucks, the Co-op Store, Sheetz, James G. Mill Center for Health and Fitness, Benjamin's Restaurant, and Aramark.
