The IUP Alumni Jazz Band performed on Sunday, April 24, 2022, as part of the annual IUP Jazz Festival. Twenty-five alumni spanning seven decades (1965 to 2021) assembled on Saturday to rehearse in preparation for Sunday’s performance.

The music featured compositions by several IUP alumni, including David Dysert ’51, Dan Borlawsky ’59, John Morris ’66, Ron Hickey ’70, and Roy Mitchell ’89. The families of David Dysert and John Morris have donated arrangements and compositions by these alumni. This music now resides in the jazz library for future research and performance.

Kevin Eisensmith, professor of trumpet and director of the IUP Jazz Band and Jazz Ensemble; James Flowers, assistant professor of saxophone; Michael Bodolosky ’72, M’78; Roy Mitchell; and Dennis Cramer ’75, M’82 shared conducting duties. The event was organized by Kevin Eisensmith, a 1978 graduate of IUP.
