This program is designed to highlight the manner in which the symptoms of trauma and substance use manifest in the client and the interactive relationship between them. Clinicians will also learn approaches to empower clients to understand how the symptoms of trauma may impact their own substance use and recovery. In addition, the program will provide a framework for clinicians to utilize in order to understand and intervene in challenging repetitive behaviors.
Objectives:
- Practice recognizing the co-occurrence of trauma and addiction.
- Interpret the relationship between the symptoms of trauma and addiction, including the behavioral manifestations.
- Identify effective interventions and treatment models for this population.
Target Audience: Clinical personnel, counselors, psychiatrists, psychologists, educators, criminal justice professionals, health care professionals.
Intermediate level. CE credits offered = 1.5 contact hours.
