This workshop will look at those factors that hinder practitioners from working with adolescents from high-risk environments. Emphasis will be placed on creating a baseline of understanding the mindset of adolescents from high-risk environments. This workshop will also attempt to provide practitioners solutions and techniques that will motivate, educate and assist in the personal development with the children we serve.

Goals and Objectives

By the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  1. create a baseline of understanding for adolescents from high-risk environments;
  2. understand Group Dynamics;
  3. provide techniques for developing resiliency skills and behaviors in adolescents from high-risk environments;
  4. discuss how and why some children emerge as resilient and others are unable to live fulfilling lives.
