This workshop is designed to provide participants with a digital citizenship model for young people to assist in them making safe and legal use of the Internet by identifying best practices, tools, and methods that also respect free expression. Special emphasis will be placed on the practical application of techniques that foster the sound critical thinking skills in young people necessary to understand the challenges, risks, and opportunities regarding current computer-mediated communication technologies. Finally, it will explore online dangers and methods of protecting personal safety from behaviors that represent the "dark side" of cyberspace.
