Substance abuse professionals and educators are often asked to speak to parents about substance abuse prevention. This session will provide strategies for presenting to parents, changing parent attitudes, and teaching parents specific prevention skills and language to use with their children and teens. Practical strategies parents can use to reduce risk factors and enhance protective factors in preventing substance abuse in their family and community will be described.
