MySpace and other Internet dangers lurk for children and teenagers. As the fastest-growing population on the Internet, children and adolescents are at-risk for developing social, behavioral, and familial problems related to Internet misuse and abuse. This workshop reviews the types of Internet problems for children (e.g., online gaming, teen gambling, sex chat rooms) and how to intervene with children about computer-related issues. Finally, 1 in 5 children are solicited by Internet predators. Profiles of typical victims online will be reviewed and how to protect children using social networking sites from cyber-predators will be discussed.
