Human trafficking can take many shapes, but in essence it is the modern form of human slavery. Come learn how human trafficking operates in the modern world, and how you can be part of the solution. Starting from explaining the definition of human trafficking and dispelling some common myths, you will be introduced to the global and local forces that create a demand for human trafficking, the social factors that make certain populations prey to human traffickers, and how these traffickers trick and force people into human trafficking. From there you'll learn more about the details behind human trafficking, where the victims come from, how they are transported, and what they are forced to do. Finally, we'll discuss human trafficking on a local scale, before zooming back out to look at the international, federal, and local efforts being used to fight human trafficking. At the end of the session, you'll find out how you can help combat human trafficking yourself.
