November 21, 2011—Jackie Hynson makes waves everywhere she swims. The senior from King George, Va., was named PSAC Swimmer of the Year in 2011 and she is a seven-time All-American. She chose to transfer to IUP because of the great things she heard about the swimming team, the Cook Honors College, and the Speech-Language Pathology program. While the average SAT score of new IUP students has steadily increased over the last three years, the Speech-Language Pathology program currently has the most stringent admissions requirement of any major at IUP.
“One of the things that set the IUP speech pathology program apart is the fact that we have a speech and hearing clinic actually on campus,” she said. “Even now, I’m able to work with clients in the speech and hearing clinic. That’s an experience not everyone gets before going to graduate school.”
