Turn up that dial! Broadway’s smash hit musical Memphis—winner of four Tony
Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book, and Best Orchestrations—comes to Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
From
the underground dance clubs of 1950s Memphis, Tennessee, comes a hot
new Broadway musical that bursts off the stage with explosive dancing,
irresistible songs, and a thrilling tale of fame and forbidden love.
Inspired by actual events, Memphis is
about a radio DJ who wants to change the world and a club singer who is
ready for her big break. Come along on their incredible journey to the
ends of the airwaves—filled with laughter, soaring emotion, and
roof-raising rock ’n’ roll.
Playing the part of radio DJ Huey Calhoun is Joey Elrose, a native New Yorker who has also appeared in the national tour productions Rock of Ages and Grease, as well as the Starlight CLO production of Pajama Game and Babes in Toyland at Lincoln Center Theater.
Encapsulating the role of singer Felicia Farrell is Jasmin Richardson, who played Deena Jones in the national tour of Dreamgirls; Crystal in the Broward Stage Door production of Little Shop of Horrors; as well as Trix in Drowsy Chaperone at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina.
Winner of four 2010 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Memphis features a Tony-winning book by Joe DiPietro (I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change) and a Tony-winning original score with music by Bon Jovi’s founding member David Bryan. This Broadway smash is also directed by Tony nominee Christopher Ashley (Xanadu), and choreographed by Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys).
