Outreach: Grace Kelly

Thursday, April 24, 2014

12:00-1:00 p.m., Stapleton Library Commons, IUP Main Campus
The multi-talented Grace Kelly will present an hour-long lecture/demonstration for students, staff, faculty, and community members, who are invited to listen to her perform a few selections and talk about her music, background, and influences. A great opportunity to meet one of the up-and-coming stars of the jazz world.

3:30-4:30 p.m., Room 120 Cogswell Hall, IUP Main Campus
Regional music teachers and students, as well as IUP students, are invited to a workshop that will focus on basic to intermediate improvisation. In this session, Kelly also plans to spend some time on singing and talking about her songwriting and compositional process, her practice schedule, and what keeps her creatively inspired. As time allows, those in attendance who have their instruments can join her in making up a song, and she likes to share her favorite ear-training exercises. Again, a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in Jazz to learn from one of the best!
