In these tight economic times, bibliographers and liaisons must be highly selective in choosing retrospective materials and resources for the Libraries. Some criteria are:
- Relevance to the curriculum and appropriateness to the Libraries’ mission
- Timeliness and lasting value of the content
- Strength of present holdings in the subject area
- Demand
- Cost
- Desirability of format – electronic format is desirable
- Reputation or authoritativeness of author, publisher, compiler, or producer
