Duplication and Replacement Policy

  • Generally, the Libraries will add duplicate(s) to the collections in the following cases:

    1. Demand is sufficiently heavy to justify duplication
    2. Basic reference or bibliographic material that is essential in more than one location
    3. Add a second gift copy if original is actively circulating or falling apart

    Replacement policy

The libraries will use the following criteria to assess replacement of damaged, missing, or lost materials:

    1. Continuing value of the material
    2. Continuing demand for the material
    3. Extent of coverage of the subject in the existing collection
    4. Availability of newer or better material in the field
    5. Cost of replacement
