In 1966, the American Library Association (ALA) held the first National Library Week (NLW) to, in the words of the ALA, "celebrate the contributions of our nation’s libraries and librarians and to promote library use." We at the IUP Libraries firmly support the tradition of National Library Week, and each year we join the ALA and libraries across the country to recognize libraries and the role they play in the lives of their communities.
Every April, we celebrate National Library Week with displays, events, and contests like Twitter Bingo and our Poster/Power point competition. Please visit our NLW specific website to learn more about this years' activities, to take advantage of the wealth of information we can help you find, and to join us and the ALA in celebrating libraries.
National Library Week 2020 runs April 19–25.
