The following web page contains instructions on operating the control software on the instructor computers.
Turning on the Computer
To turn on the computer:
- Obtain the key to the podium, please log a ticket in
ihelp.
- Open the computer cabinet using the key.
- Flip the large orange/red switch labeled “System Power” to on.
- If the computer is off, push the Power button on the front of the computer.
- Turn on the monitor by pushing the Power button on the front of the monitor.
Note: If there is an orange light on the front of the monitor, the monitor is in standby mode and you do not need to touch the power button. When you push the power button on the computer this light should turn green and the monitor will power on.
Logging on Using Your Own Account Information
To log on using your own account information:
- Enter your username and password.
- Select IUPMSD from the domain list.
- Click OK.
Controlling the Projector
After you are logged in, the Control Screen (Figure 1) for the multimedia software will appear. From the Class Room Control screen you can turn the projector on and off as well as choose the device to use, i.e. DVD, VCR, Document Camera, etc. Please Note: The active device on the Class Room Control screen will be green.

Turning on the Projector
- Go to the Class Room Control screen and click the Projector Power button. Once you press the Projector Power button, a message will appear stating that the projector is warming up. (Figure 2)
- You will not be able to switch devices until the projector is fully warmed up.
- The projector will default to the last device used.

Using the PC
- On the Class Room Control screen, switch to PC mode by clicking on PC (Figure 3).
- What you display on the local instructor monitor will also display on the projection screen.

Using a Laptop
- Connect the Laptop using the supplied 15 pin VGA cable. You will need to connect the Sound cable for applications producing sound.
- On the Class Room Control screen, click on the Laptop button. (Figure 4)

Using the Document Camera
- On the Class Room Control screen, click on the Doc Cam button. (Figure 5)
- Lay the document face up on the surface of the document camera.

Note: The power button is located on the left side of the document camera.
Using the DVD Player
- On the Class Room Control screen, switch to DVD mode by clicking on DVD. (Figure 6)
- In the multimedia cabinet, make sure that the DVD/VCR combo device is turned on.
- Insert the DVD into the DVD player. You can also control the DVD using the on-screen control buttons. (Figure 6)

Using the VCR
- On the Class Room Control screen, switch to VCR mode by clicking on VCR. (Figure 7)
- In the multimedia cabinet, make sure that the DVD/VCR combo device is turned on.
- Insert the video into the VCR. You can also control the VCR using the on-screen control buttons. (Figure 7)

Using the TV Tuner
- On the Class Room Control screen, switch to TV Tuner. (Figure 8)
- Select a specific channel by using the on-screen control buttons or by using the "+" or "-" buttons.

Using Picture Mute
If you would like to mute the picture, (black out the image appearing on the screen without turning off the projector), simply click the Picture Mute button. To redisplay the image, click the red Picture is Muted button. (Figure 9)

Shutting Down the Projector
Before shutting down the computer, you need to turn off the projector.
- On the control screen, click the Projector Power button. Once you press the Projector Power button, a message will appear stating that the projector is cooling down. (Figure 10)
- Either log off or shut down the PC.

Notes
- Do not change any controls on the equipment in the podium.
- To return the projector to PC mode after using any of the other functions, simply click on the PC button. Remember the active button will be green.
- To adjust the volume of the projector, use the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons located on the control screen. (Figure 1) Note that as you switch from mode to mode, the volume is reset to 0 percent.
- Do not move or rearrange the multimedia equipment. This will help prevent damage to the equipment.
- To obtain a key to the multimedia cabinet, Please log a ticket in
ihelp.
- Turn off all equipment (including projector) and lock the doors to the cabinet when finished.
