Creating Course Content

How do I use the D2L Content Tool?

Details using the content tool  can be found in a D2L document titled Content. There is also a video playlist on Using the Content Tool.

How do I prevent students from moving to another module until I want them to?

Release conditions allow you to create a custom learning path through the materials in your course. When you attach a release condition to an item, users cannot see that item until they meet the associated condition. For example, you could attach a release condition to the second topic in your course's content area that would hide that topic until users viewed the topic before it.

The release condition documentation explains how the conditions work, what tools they can be used with, and best practices for using release conditions.

How do I use the D2L HTML Editor?

D2L documentation contains a wealth of information on how to use the HTML Editor. You will find help on the basics of the editor, creating and inserting equations, about the Graphical Equation Editor, as well as editing an equation. Insert Stuff in the HTML editor offers the opportunity to add additional features to a course. These include our integration or itube, YouTube, as well as your own computer.

Characters NOT permitted in D2L filenames.

There are certain characters that should never be used when naming files to use with D2L. The presence of just one of these characters in your filenames will cause errors and unexpected problems in D2L. Instructors naming a file to upload in a course for Assignment, Discussions, Course Files, or Content area  must not use these characters in the filename.
