Using Films on Demand with Desire2Learn

  • Films On Demand is a Web-based digital video delivery service that allows you to view streaming videos anytime, anywhere, 24/7. You can connect to a video clip in Films On Demand using D2L Brightspace with the following instructions.

    Creating a Web Link to a Video

    Go to the Films On Demand database through the library Web pages. Locate the desired video clip. (Please contact the library for assistance if you have problems with using the database.)

    On the Films On Demand web page, underneath the video player, click on the Embed/Link.

    The web address you need is in the Record URL: box. Next, click on the Copy button to the right of the web address.

    Once you have located the desired video clip, log in to D2L Brightspace, navigate to your course, then select Content on the navbar.  Go to the module where the video is to reside. Next, select the Update/Create button.  From the drop-down menu select Create a Link.

    Enter a title in the Title  area. Paste the link from Film on Demand  in the URL box.  Click on the Create button.

    Test the link by going back to the Content tool and click on the link you have just created. You should be taken to the video you chose in Films on Demand.

    Note: Currently the embed code from Films on Demand does not work.  Investigations as to why are in the process.
