Required Clearance Information

  • Required clearances related to PA Child Protection Services Law and IUP’s background investigation checking policy are:

Act 34 - Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check (SP4‐164)

Act 151 - Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Child Abuse History Clearance Check (CY‐113) to determine if the person is named as a perpetrator of an indicated or founded child abuse report, and

Act 114 - Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal History Record Information check

    • The process for obtaining these clearances must begin before the first day of work with IUP.
    • No one can start to work until HR has verified that all clearances are in progress.
    • Candidates may begin working provisionally for up to 90 days while awaiting results of background checks.
    • Results must be obtained and presented to the Office of Human Resources within 90 days of the date of hire.
    • Offers of employment are contingent on successful completion of all required background checks.  Therefore, if checks are not completed, meaning results are not presented to the Office of Human Resources, within 90 days of your date of hire, work must cease.
