    Dear Mr. Ewart:

This will confirm your discussions with Thomas M. Krapsho regarding the possible need to assign bargaining unit employees to develop and/or conduct formalized training sessions related to work processes involved in the implementation of SAP as part of the shared administrative system project.  The training is scheduled to being in late August 2002.  If such assignments are made to employees covered by the collective bargaining agreement, the State System proposes the following:

    1. If State System employees covered by the collective bargaining agreement are assigned to develop and/or conduct formalized training sessions related to work processes involved in the implementation of SAP as part of the shared administrative system project, such employees shall be paid 45 cents above their hourly pay rate in effect at the time of the assignment for all hours spent developing and/or presenting such training.
    2. This side letter shall not serve as a precedent nor prejudice the contractual rights of either party in any pending or future matter.

In order to acknowledge your concurrence, please return a signed copy of this document to this office.

    Sincerely,

    Michael K. Becker
    Executive Deputy Chancellor
