John F. Kadlubowski Memorial Scholarship

The John K. Kadlubowski Memorial Scholarship is an award of a minimum of $500 given annually to an undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, or graduate student who plans to pursue a career in teaching at the high school or college level. Applicants must be declared majors in the Department of History at IUP.

Undergraduate applicants must meet the following criteria at the time of application:

  • 48 credit hours (including 12 IUP credit hours for transfer students)
  • Minimum standard of a 2.75 GPA
  • Demonstrable financial need (The department will check with the Financial Aid Office regarding unmet financial needs.)

Post-baccalaureate and graduate students must meet the following criteria at the time of application:

  • 12 credit hours
  • Minimum standard of a 2.75 GPA
  • Demonstrable financial need (The department will check with the Financial Aid Office regarding unmet financial needs.)

Preference is given to students who are married and/or have children.

All applications must include the following:

  • Completed application form
  • IUP transcript
  • Letter of recommendation from a faculty member
  • Statement of career plans, family responsibilities, and how the scholarship will be used

Application forms are available in the History Department office. Applications are due by April 1.

The award will be announced during Spring Commencement.

Erik Slebodnik Memorial Scholarship

The Erik Slebodnik Memorial Scholarship is an award of a minimum of $500 given annually to an undergraduate History major. Applicants must meet the following criteria at the time of application:

  • 57 credit hours (junior standing)
  • Minimum standard of a 3.25 GPA
  • Candidate must be a History major at IUP, pursuing a B.S., B.A, or History Pre-law degree

All applications must include the following:

  • Completed application form
  • IUP transcript
  • A completed essay on the published topic

Application forms are available in the History Department office. Applications are due by April 1.

The award will be announced during Spring Commencement.
