Stephen Shiring, professor in the Department of Hospitality Management, was recognized at the College of Health and Human Services' thirty-first annual awardsrecognition ceremony, held virtuallyon May 5, 2021.
Shiring advises students at all levelsbachelor of science, associate of science, and four minor degreesthrough their academic careers in hospitality management at IUP. This advisement often times begins for most during their "visit" as high school seniors.
In addition, he serves as the department internship advisor and advisor to several student professional organizations continuously over the past 25 years, including Eta Sigma Delta, Hospitality Travel Club, Catering Club, and university Greek fraternities and sororities. Shiring is also an advisor for the Hospitality Department's Student Chapter of the Club Managers Association of America. He often continues mentorship well beyond the student's years at IUP by keeping a close connection with alumni.
