  • Professor Fredalene Barletta Bowers

    FACULTY TOPS IN TEACHING — Professor Fredalene Barletta Bowers has been recognized with several awards. Among them are an IUP Distinguished University Faculty Award for Teaching and an Outstanding Teacher Award for Teaching Excellence from the College of Health and Human Services. The IUP African American Cultural Center also recognized her for student support.

    Full Spectrum of Child-Family Credentials 

    All faculty members have earned terminal degrees—the highest academic honor—in their area of expertise. Extensive fieldwork in early childhood, childcare, and family therapy includes associations with school and community organizations. Through their experience and high level of scholarship, our professors understand and communicate the reality of child growth within a family dynamic.

    • Faculty members have won various awards, including those that will help nontraditional students to complete undergraduate studies.
    • Two of our professors championed a four-year Child Care Access Means Parents in School grant to provide financial assistance and support services for childcare to IUP undergraduate student-parents. 
    • Faculty members have presented research findings at the state, national, and international level.
    • Several professors are certified trainers for the Office of Child Development and Early Learning and the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
