Deadlines

  • Know the deadlines for submitting your research topic approval form, applying for graduation, and final submission of your thesis or dissertation and accompanying forms. Missing one of these deadlines will impact your plans for graduation.

    For a December Graduation

    May 15: Doctoral candidates have filed in the School of Graduate Studies and Research a Research Topic Approval Form.

    August 15: Master’s candidates have filed in the School of Graduate Studies and Research a Research Topic Approval Form.

    November 1: Both master's and doctoral candidates have successfully defended thesis or dissertation (if degree program requires a defense).

    November 1: Draft copy of thesis/dissertation submitted to the School of Graduate Studies and Research (grad-research@iup.edu) for review.

    November 1: Copies of signed thesis/dissertation signature pages and necessary forms submitted to the School of Graduate Studies and Research.

    November 15: Electronic thesis/dissertation submitted to ProQuest.

    December 1: Both master’s and doctoral candidates have applied for graduation through URSA.

    For a May Graduation

    August 15: Doctoral candidates have filed in the School of Graduate Studies and Research a Research Topic Approval Form.

    December 15: Master’s candidates have filed in the School of Graduate Studies and Research a Research Topic Approval Form.

    April 1: Both master's and doctoral candidates have successfully defended thesis or dissertation (if degree program requires a defense).

    April 1: Draft copy of thesis/dissertation submitted to the School of Graduate Studies and Research (grad-research@iup.edu) for review.
