Degree Candidacy

  • Each student admitted to a master’s or doctoral program must receive degree candidacy after completing no less than nine to no more than 18 credits, as specified by the program(s).

Some departments have additional requirements for degree candidacy. Students must consult with the program coordinator and the program handbook for a listing of these requirements. The student’s minimum grade point average for degree candidacy may be set higher than an overall 3.0 by a program; however, it cannot be set lower than the overall 3.0 grade point average per requirement of the School of Graduate Studies and Research.
