The IUP Sports Performance Nutrition Services (SPNS) is directed by Nicole Dann-Payne, MS, RDN, CSSD, LDN, CHWC and staffed by graduate students of the Department of Food and Nutrition. SPNS is sponsored by the IUP Department of Food and Nutrition and the Athletic Department.
SPNS provides IUP and local high school athletes and coaches with personalized and sport-specific nutrition strategies to optimize athletic performance and training.
We offer individualized nutrition coaching, team and small group presentations, newsletters, and informational bulletin boards to educate athletes about nutrition topics related to health and human performance.
Individualized counseling topics include:
Team and small group presentations typically last between 15 to 60 minutes and address relevant topics within sports nutrition, including:

Jason Nepa is a registered
dietitian nutritionist and works as the graduate assistant sports nutritionist
for Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Jason has a Bachelor of Science degree
in Nutrition and Dietetics with a minor in communication media from IUP. He
completed a 1,300-hour dietetic internship with clinical, management, and
community rotations, and is completing a Master of Science degree in Food and
Nutrition. Jason is a soldier of 15 years and is the regimental master fitness
