    The Pittsburgh Foundation — Scholarship Opportunities

    The Pittsburgh Foundation is the seventeenth largest community foundation in the country. Since 1945, it has worked to improve the quality of life in the Pittsburgh region by evaluating and addressing community issues, promoting charitable giving, and connecting donors to the critical needs of the community. Numerous scholarship opportunities are available for students enrolled at IUP.

    Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowships

    Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowships are designed to increase the diversity of the nation’s college and university faculties by increasing their ethnic and racial diversity, to maximize the educational benefits of diversity, and to increase the number of professors who can and will use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.

    ​University Tutor

    University Tutor helps students find the right tutor to achieve academic results.  The program will conduct a scholarship essay contest by posting a monthly essay prompt located at the UniversityTutor Website.  To enter, eligible participants must log on to the Website and submit a 300 word essay in response to the monthly prompt.  Winners of the contest will be awarded up to $1,000.

    Mobility Scooters Direct Scholarship

    Mobility Scooters offers a scholarship to students who apply to their program. To apply, you must currently be enrolled at a college or university. You must provide a blog post or article about a mobility or accessibility issue you have faced in your life.

    Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF)

    The Hispanic Scholarship Fund offers various scholarship programs for Hispanic American undergraduate and graduate students enrolled full time in degree-seeking programs. During its thirty-two-year history, HSF has awarded more than 82,000 scholarships in excess of $221 million to Latino students. Scholarship awards generally range from $1,000 to $3,000.     JPMorgan Chase/UNCF Corporate Scholars Programs

    The JPMorgan Chase/UNCF Corporate Scholars Program has been established to increase minority student interest in JPMorgan Chase and expand the company’s pool of minority employees. Scholars participate in eight- to ten-week paid internships and receive financial need-based scholarships up to $10,000. Eligible students are sophomore and junior students seeking a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, computer information systems, economics, engineering, finance, marketing, mathematics, operations management, or software engineering and must have a minimum GPA of 3.2.     WalMart Foundation Scholarships

    Varsity Tutors Scholarship

    Varsity Tutors offers a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest to students who write the best essay in response to a monthly prompt. Visitors to the Varsity Tutors scholarship webpage will be able to vote via social media for submitted entries. The top five entries with the most votes will be reviewed by Varsity Tutors and one winner will be chosen who will receive a $1,000 college scholarship.     Thrivent Federal Credit Union is awarding 50 scholarships to eligible students. You do not have to be a credit union member or customer to enter.

    Graduate Programs Scholarship

    Graduate Programs will award $1,000 scholarships to current graduate students and $1,000 toward student loan payments for recent grads within the last five years.     Healthcare Leaders Scholarship 

    The Healthcare Leaders Scholarship is offered to qualified applicants who are entering or currently pursuing an educational program related to nursing or medicine. Qualified applicants are accepted to or currently attending a nursing or medical related program an an accredited institution with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

    McKee Scholars

    The Estate of John McKee, through the McKee Scholarship Committee, offers scholarships for college or vocational training to high school seniors or graduates (not over age 19 years at the time of the application) who meet all of the following criteria: (a) fatherless boys (i.e., whose biological or lost adoptive father is actually dead or has been declared missing by a competent authority) of any race; "missing" may also include permanently absent, dysfunctional, and not functioning as a father to the applicant; (b) in need of financial assistance; and (c) native to the five-county Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area (Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia).     Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation — Wildlife Leadership Awards

    The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s Wildlife Leadership Awards Program was established to recognize, encourage, and promote leadership among future wildlife management professionals. Each year, the Elk foundation awards up to ten $2,000 scholarships to outstanding college juniors and seniors studying in a wildlife-related natural resource program.     Pennsylvania Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (PRAEF) Scholarship Program

    The Pennsylvania Restaurant Association Educational Foundation offers scholarships to graduating high school seniors furthering their education in the hospitality industry and to students currently enrolled in an accredited Hospitality Culinary Arts program in an accredited post-secondary institution.     HubShout Internet Marketing Scholarship

    Students who have completed at least one year of post-secondary education and are working toward a career in online marketing are invited to apply for the HubShout Scholarship. A scholarship will be awarded to two students ($1,000 each) who have at least a 3.0 GPA and can best demonstrate a passion for online marketing. Deadline for submission: November 1 annually

    Suzanne M. Lynch Memorial Scholarship

    The Suzanne M. Lynch memorial scholarship was created to assist interior design majors who are completing their junior year at one of the following colleges: IUP, LaRoche College, Mercyhurst College, Carlow College, or the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and demonstrate financial need. Deadline for submission: March 31 annually

    John Family Health Careers Scholarship

    The John Family Health Careers Scholarship at Evangelical Community Hospital provides 4 annual awards of $5,000 to students entering college for the purpose of pursuing a career as a respiratory therapist, medical technologist, medical imaging technologist, clinical laboratory scientist, or cytotechnologist. Applicants must have a diploma or equivalent from high schools in Union, Snyder, or Northumberland counties, Pennsylvania. Deadline for submission: April 1 annually

    Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association Scholarship

    The Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association endeavors to promote health and safety within the mining industry. This scholarship shall be open to persons currently employed or who are pursuing careers in the mining industry, safety, and health fields. High school graduates, undergraduates, and graduate students currently enrolled in a college or university are all eligible to apply. Deadline for submission: April 1 annually

    NursesLink.org is offering a $1,000 Nursing Program Scholarship available to any student participating in a qualified undergraduate or certificate level nursing program.  Deadline for submission:  July 31 and October 31 annually

    Bi-Annual Automotive Scholarship of America

    The Car-Buying Strategies scholarship offers college and university students an opportunity to earn money to further their education. Any senior in high school or incoming student enrolled in a college or university is welcome to apply.

    The Noyce Scholarship

    The Noyce Scholarship is sponsored by the Collaborative for Excellence in Teacher Preparation in Pennsylvania with the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The scholarship is intended for undergraduate and graduate students majoring in science or mathematics who intend to teach in a "high need" school. The maximum award is $10,000 annually. Deadline for submission: April 20 for Fall Awards; October 20 Spring Awards

    Orchid Care Scholarship by Orchids Made Easy

    ExtremeTerrain Student Scholarship Program

    ExtremeTerrain is comprised of Jeep Wrangler enthusiasts who value the Jeep culture as well as the preservation of public lands. By investing in students and communities that share our sentiments on land preservation, ExtremeTerrain is investing in the future of not just Jeep culture, but also the future of our sacred public lands. Two $3,000 scholarships are being offered, one for the fall semester and one for the spring semester. Students who are pursuing a degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Research, Land Use, Earth & Atmosphere Studies, Sustainable Land Management, Parks and Recreation, Sustainable Agriculture Systems are eligible to apply.  Deadline for submission:  June 15 and October 15 every year

    Evergreen Garden Club

    The Evergreen Garden Club is offering two $1,000 scholarships to students of Indiana County schools. These scholarships are open to any 2014 graduating senior or any student who is a resident of Indiana County currently attending a college or university. Qualifications are:  (1) Must be a legal resident of Indiana County and have a GPA of 3.25 or greater; (2) intended course of study should fall within one of the following:  agriculture, biology, civic planning, environmental/environmental health studies, land conservation, landscape architecture, plant pathology, water conservation, agronomy, botany, earth sciences, forestry, horticulture, land management, landscape design, turf grass management, wildlife science, or any other related field or science.  Deadline for submission:  June 15

    Future Counselors of America Scholarship

    Annual scholarship awards $1,000 to U.S. undergraduates and graduates majoring in Psychology who seek a career in relationship counseling or a related field. Applicants will be judged based on academic achievement (minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA) and a minimum 500- to maximum 900-word essay entitled "The Psychology of Online Dating." The essay should address the psychological issues and challenges facing singles given the growing popularity of online dating, and how relationship professionals can help online daters navigate these challenges.     Giva Student Scholarship

    Giva, Inc., a technology company located in Silicon Valley, is excited to offer its annual $1,000 student scholarship to undergraduate or graduate students. There is no specific course of study or major required.  All eligible students will be required to compose a thoughtful essay between 500 – 1,000 words answering the question: “How will you use your talents and education to make the world a better place for future generations?     Anthony Castelli Attorney's Veteran's College Scholarship

    In order to honor Anthony's father, Lt. Jr. Grade Joseph A. Castelli, a World War II Navy hero, Anthony Castelli is awarded a scholarship to veteran's. This is an annual scholarship awarded to a current military veteran or honorably discharged veteran or parent, sibling, child, or grandchild of a current or honorably discharged veteran.

    Zumper Apartments Scholarship

    We are Zumper, a national home and apartment rental search site.  Finding a place to rent has been difficult for too long, so we're out to completely change the game.  We've built the first apartment search platform that not only helps you find the perfect place, but also apply for an apartment.​  We are offering a $1,000 scholarship to an outstanding student who has helped their classmates or community in a tremendous way.  Maybe you started a club that raised $10,000 for charity, or championed recycling and sustainable practices across campus.  Whatever it is, we'd love to hear about it.  Any legal resident in high school or college who will be attending an accredited university or college in Fall 2015 is eligible to apply.

    At the Atlanta law firm of Boling Rice, LLC, our attorneys understand the value of education as well as the often significant costs associated with obtaining one.     Highmark Healthcare Scholarships for Rising Juniors

    This scholarship is being offered by Highmark to help address the rising need for trained healthcare professionals to meet the demands of the Commonwealth and beyond. Students who are residents of Pennsylvania and enrolled as a full-time student at one of the 14 Pennsylvania State System universities, are pursuing a degree in the healthcare profession, and must be a rising junior for the Fall 2016 semester who have earned 60 credits with a GPA of 3.0 or greater are welcome to apply.

    The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to continue to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. BigSun is offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student.     AT&T Communications Scholarship (PASSHE)

    AT&T is providing a $1,000 scholarship to an Indiana University of Pennsylvania student who is pursuing a degree in Communications, Retail Sales Management or Hotel and Restaurant Management and has earned at least 60 college credits with a 3.0 GPA or better at the time of the receipt of the scholarship.     AT&T STEM Scholarship (PASSHE)

    AT&T is offering a $1,000 scholarship to students attending a Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) university who are pursuing a degree in a STEM related major with the intention of working in the Computer Technology, Advanced Manufacturing or Energy Related Industries and have earned at least 60 college credits with a 3.0 GPA or better at the time of the receipt of the scholarship.     M&T Bank Scholarship (PASSHE)

    M&T Bank has established a $1,000 scholarship for incoming freshman who reside in Cumberland, Dauphin or Franklin counties, will attend a PASSHE university, and are in strong need of financial assistance.     PSECU Credit Union Industry Scholarship for Rising Juniors and Seniors (PASSHE)

    The Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union (PSECU) is providing a $1,000 scholarship for the fall semester to students who are attending a Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) university and are majoring in Finance, Business, Marketing, Human Resources, Information Technology or Criminal Justice.  This is a one-time scholarship available to full-time rising juniors or seniors who have completed 60 or more credits with a 3.0 GPA or better at the time application and are residents of Pennsylvania.  Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Eligible candidates are required to complete an application by June 17th.  For more information, please visit www.thepafoundation.org

    PSECU International Education Scholarship (PASSHE)

    The Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union (PSECU) is providing ten $2,000 scholarships to students who are attending a Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) university. Applicants must be enrolled as full-time undergraduate students at a PASSHE university and be a Pennsylvania resident.     Scott Electric Environmental Sustainability Scholarship (PASSHE)

    Scott Electric is providing a $1,000 scholarship for the fall semester to students who are attending a Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) university and majoring in a program that is related to Environmental Sustainability and/or Energy Conservation.  This is a one-time scholarship available to full-time rising juniors or seniors who have completed 60 or more credits with a 3.0 GPA or better at the time application.  Applicants must be Pennsylvania residents, however students residing in one of the following counties are NOT eligible to apply:  Bradford, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Delaware, Lackawanna, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia, Pike, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming.  Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Eligible candidates are required to complete an application by June 17th.  For more information, please visit www.thepafoundation.org.

    Stephen and Sandy Sheller Scholarship (PASSHE)

    The Sheller Family Foundation is providing a $1,000 scholarship to students who are attending a Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) university and pursuing an undergraduate degree leading to a career in Law, Art Therapy or Social Services.  This is a one-time scholarship available to full-time students who have earned at least 60 credits with a 3.50 GPA or better at the time of the receipt of the scholarship.  Applicants must demonstrate financial need based on the need analysis from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).   Eligible candidates are required to complete an application by June 17th.  For more information, please visit www.thepafoundation.org.

    William D. Greenlee Scholarship (PASSHE)

    The William D. Greenlee Scholarship is a $2,500 scholarship for a student attending a Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) university who is majoring in Political Science, Journalism or Communications, and has earned at least 60 college credits with a 3.0 GPA or better at the time of the receipt of the scholarship.  Applicants must reside in one of the following Pennsylvania counties:  Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, Northumberland, Perry or York.  Recipients must have demonstrated financial need based on the need analysis from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  This is a one-time scholarship available to a full-time junior or senior who is a resident of Pennsylvania.  Eligible candidates are required to complete an application by June 17th.  For more information, please visit www.thepafoundation.org.

    James "Rhio" O'Connor Memorial Scholarship Fund

    Students are welcome to apply for this scholarship honoring James "Rhio" O’Connor, a man who fought cancer. His path led to his creation of treatment protocols which consisted of vitamins, minerals, vegetables, fruits, and other minerals. Deadline: Monthly

    This program is a yearly program that invests in young talents in the world of performing arts, who are innovative and creative. Students enrolled full-time at a university from any country are eligible to apply.

    CORE Promise Scholarship

    CORE offers Promise scholarships to high school seniors from households at or below 200% of the poverty guideline to help pay first-year college expenses (including living expenses and books). Applicants must be a Philadelphia resident and a graduating high school senior in the class of 2016.

    Army Reserve Minuteman Scholarship

    The U.S. Army Reserve Minuteman Scholarship was introduced to enhance the Army Reserve's ability to recruit highly qualified cadets every year. The Minuteman Scholarship covers full tuition and fees or $10,000 per year toward room and board. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and must be currently in the Army Reserve or eligible for enlistment.

    Legal Templates Scholarship

    Legal Templates uses technology to help people create legal forms at an affordable price. Any undergraduate, graduate, or students attending a vocational or technical school is welcome to apply for this scholarship.

    CORE RISE Scholarship

    CORE RISE (Rewarding Increased Savings for Education) is a need-based savings program, which offers students and parents up to $4,000 in scholarship money in exchange for saving $500 of income. Applicants' household must be at or below $200 of the Federal Poverty Guidelines and have at least one source of earned income.

    Kids Chance Scholarship

    The mission of Kids' Chance of Pennsylvania, Inc. is to provide scholarship grants for college and vocational education to children who demonstrate financial need due to a parent's work-related injury or fatality.

    PNC Education Loan Center Achiever Scholarships

    The PNC Education Loan Center launched this scholarship program in 2015 to further support students by giving them a chance to win $2,000 to spend on their educational expenses. There is no cost to enter, but students must be registered for a Financial Literacy Account, managed by Decision Partners.
