Despite historical and contemporary legislative and institutional reforms, Black male counseling students encounter a myriad of obstacles while enrolled in counselor education programs. Join this discussion of a qualitative study that investigated the experiences of 10 African American counseling students' interactions with faculty. Findings, implications, and recommendations for future research will be presented by Joel J. Brown. 

Dr. Brown is a licensed professional counselor and national certified counselor and a member of the Association for Specialists in Group Work Special Initiative Committee. He has counseling experience in correctional, school, and community settings. Through his scholarship, he seeks to promote and integrate multiculturalism/equity into counseling pedagogy, supervision, research, and practice. He received his bachelor of arts in criminology, his master of arts in clinical mental health counseling, and his PhD in counselor education and supervision from IUP.
