English Department students and faculty will host a Zoom discussion of Dear White People (episode 1) and video statements from the Whiteness Project on Tuesday, July 21, at 7:00 p.m. This event continues the discussion to Build Social Unity.
Dear White People (2017) is a series based on the film of the same name and follows the perspectives of Black college students at an Ivy League institution.
The Whiteness Project contains a series of personal video statements from White millennials from Dallas, Texas, and how they understand and relate to their own Whiteness.
Attendees need only watch Episode One of Dear White People, which is available on Netflix, but are encouraged to watch more of the series. Attendees may also view any number of short clips from the Whiteness Project.
