Jialei Jiang, PhD (Composition and Applied Linguistics doctoral program) and her collaborator Jason Tham (assistant professor of technical communication and rhetoric at Texas Tech University) have received a $10,000 grant from the Conference on College Composition and Communication.

The grant funds fund their research project titled "Understanding the Design, Delivery, and Impact of Multimodal Advocacy Projects: A Study of Instructors, Students, and Community Partners in Social Justice Writing Pedagogy."

Their research project investigates the development, delivery, and impact of multimodal advocacy in writing pedagogy. It aims to document the ways in which instructors across writing studies emphases--such as rhetoric and technical communication--design and deploy multimodal pedagogies for the purposes of community engagement and social advocacy. It also seeks to document the impact of such pedagogies on the associated communities.
