Leonard Hall Demolition Project Underway

Razing of Leonard Hall is part of the university’s long-range campus plan; this work makes way for IUP’s new building for the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Construction for this new science facility is set to begin in spring 2020.

Summer 2017 Campus Construction and Maintenance Projects

Starting today, fencing will be going up in three different locations for the university’s steam line-condensate replacement project. This work will create a more efficient—including cost-efficient—steam heating delivery system to campus buildings. Many other projects will also be going on during the summer of 2017 at IUP.

Brief Power Outage Scheduled

There will be a planned power outage on Friday, April 15, 2016, beginning at 5:00 a.m. The duration of the outage is expected to be 30 to 45 minutes.

Construction Update: North Dining

Construction contracts for the North Dining Project are now in place, and the contractors will start to mobilize for the project. We anticipate the construction fence will be installed the week of March 7, during Spring Break.

Construction Update: Grant Street Parking Garage Pedestrian Bridge Repairs

On Saturday and Sunday, August 29 and 30, 2015, the pedestrian bridge from the Grant Street parking garage will be closed for repairs.

On Monday, June 29, contractors will begin repair work in the Grant Street Parking Garage. The garage will remain open during the repair work; however, portions of the garage and parking spaces will be closed.

Construction Update: Campus Central Chiller Plant Shut-Down

On Monday, November 24, 2014, the campus central chiller plant will be shut down to allow for the chiller plan expansion construction. The parking lot at the boiler plant will be closed from Grant Street to the northwest corner of the cogeneration plant, and is expected re-open by the end of March 2015.

Water will be turned off for several campus buildings at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, as a result of the Humanities Building construction. It is expected to be back on by 4:00 p.m. the same day.

Notification of Aerial Survey of Campus

In the next few weeks, you may see a low-flying plane makingmultiple passes over campus and the surrounding area. The plane will be performing aphotogrammetric survey of the university as part of a project to develop a new campus basemap.

Miller Stadium: Scoreboard Drilling

Handicapped parking will now be available in the Sutton Hall circle. The availability of parking in this location is temporary as South Drive will eventually be closed completely during construction.
